Is there a cost to the school?
No. Visits, materials, planning, and volunteers are all provided free of charge to partner schools.
What grade levels do you work with?
We design modules for grades K–5, and tailor each visit to the specific grade and class size we're working with.
How long is a typical visit?
Most visits are 45–60 minutes, scheduled around your normal classroom routine. We can do back-to-back sessions for multiple classes the same day.
Who is in the classroom during a visit?
Our student volunteers are always supervised, and a classroom teacher or school staff member is present at all times. We do not work alone with students.
Are your volunteers vetted?
Yes. Every TAR volunteer is trained on our curriculum and safety guidelines before stepping into a classroom. We follow each partner school's visitor policies.
What kind of topics do you cover?
Hands-on STEM — chemistry experiments, beginner coding, simple engineering builds, microscope work, plant and weather science, and playful math. See the Materials page for the full list of modules.
Do you handle materials and cleanup?
Yes. We bring everything we need, set up before the lesson, and clean up after. Teachers just open the door.
How far in advance should we request a visit?
Two to three weeks is ideal so we can coordinate volunteers and prep kits, but we'll always try to accommodate shorter timelines when we can.
Can you do family STEM nights or after-school events?
